 The Story of About Town…
When their children entered high school, the Gerharts didn’t worry about soon becoming empty-nesters. Instead, they began to cultivate old friendships and celebrate their new-found independence.
Their first experience with limousines was in the winter of 1988, when a friend arranged a limousine to take the two couples to a Philadelphia trade show and out to dinner afterwards. The experience was so convenient and relaxing that the Gerharts decided that this may be an excellent way to make a living!
“We began to think it would be a good idea to own our own limousine and just hire a chauffeur,” said Carol. So in 1989 the Gerharts bought their first Lincoln Limousine for their own personal use.
“After investigating Public Service Commission licensing and other costs, we knew the car had to work, so we advertised for the prom season that year,” said Carol, “and were booked solid. Everything just took off from there. Before we knew it, we had bought two more limousines and a limo-van for nights out and airport service, and couldn’t keep up with the demand.”
About Town Limousine has expanded over the years to include private car service to airports, birthdays, school parties and bringing new babies home from the hospital. We have recently expanded our fleet to include a party bus that is perfect for larger groups heading out for a night on the town!
